Echos of the past

I published my first novel, have sold a few books, and received my first Amazon Review from a stranger!

I have discovered my writing process with a novel and found it addicting. Very familiar ground from my former life as a sculptor/professor. But have I?

I returned from an exhilarating first time in London! Great history, full of crackling with energy, similar to but different than Manhattan. My blog awaited. Several ideas zoomed through my head while sightseeing in England. I didn’t open a writing program, but Photoshop to begin. I had some great photos to begin some ideas. I started with some, then returned to a several-week-old image I had, which became this cover image.

So, after this quest to become an author, images still inspire me. My novel began with several drawings of the mythical city of Cerulean, based on a trip to Sienna, Italy. The root of the idea came from the potteries of the city that produced the tiled city square—again, returning to my former artist life. This process of writing is similar to my wife’s spaghetti sauce. It is delicious, but on the second day of reheating, the spices have blended, completing the melding of flavors.

So, in trying to quantify my writing process, I can’t. It is an archaic blending of influences, impressions, images and desire. A desire to connect with an audience, you.
